It's with great excitement that we can announce that The Drewe Arms has won CAMRA's first ever Heritage Pub of the Year award!
The new Heritage Award is open to all pubs on CAMRA's National Inventory of Historic Pubs and this award recognises not just what a unique heritage pub the Drewe is, but the lengths that the community went to, to save it from closure and loss forever.
Here's what they had to say about us:
"CAMRA has long recognised the Drewe Arms as having a nationally important historic interior, with the public bar in particular being one of the country's great pub rooms. We were greatly concerned, therefore, to hear about its threatened closure, which would have been a tragic loss to our pub heritage as well as to the village. Thankfully, the local community came to the rescue, not only raising the money to buy the pub but restoring it as a true community hub - a pub for the people by the people." Paul Ainsworth, CAMRA's Pub Saving Award Coordinator

We're already getting lots of local media attention. Scenes from earlier today when we were visited by a local radio station: https://youtu.be/GmZiKpxHhWM?si=Iy052bL9NfGqcmUS
The award is testimony to the hard work of our incredible pub team and the commitment of shareholders, volunteers, supporters and customers to make this community pub such a success. Thank you!
The award will formally be presented to us by CAMRA at lunchtime on Saturday 25th January. Come and join us if you can!
